Emergency Services

 Temporary Emergency Dept patient entry

According to a study done by Press-Ganey Associates, the health care industry’s leading provider of satisfaction measurement and improvement services, the national average emergency room wait time is 4 hours.  Not surprisingly, the study also showed that the longer the wait time, the less satisfied the patient was with their care.  Hannibal Regional Hospital is aware of these statistics, and is taking steps to remedy your wait.

Phase II of the Hospital Expansion Project will include an entirely new Emergency Services Department. The new facility will quadruple the amount of space allocated to care for patients. While this facility is being built, the current Emergency Department will function as normal. Phase III will be the moving of equipment and staff into the new Emergency Services Department, and the transformation of the old space into the new Critical Decision Unit. The new service will include a new helicopter landing area and, a reception and garage facility for ambulances.

The new Emergency Service will provide the best possible treatment facilities for patients and staff including 18 treatment rooms and trauma facilities. The new facility is expected to be operational by August 2008.
